Suleimaniah Celebrates Flag Day

The activity took place in the school playground, where all the staff, teachers, and students gathered in their traditional Kurdish clothes. Once everyone arrived, the Kurdish flag was raised and together they sand the Kurdish national anthem, “Ay Reqib.” After the national anthem, the students danced together and with the staff to Kurdish music.

The purpose of this activity was to build student pride in their culture and their flag, as well as teach the importance of respecting a flag. “I am proud of my Kurdish nationality,” said a student. To visit the gallery of the event, please click here.
